The mold is a hollow block that has a model or pattern for molding flexible raw materials such as plastic, metal, glass, ceramics, etc. Here, the liquid hardens and takes the shape of a hollow block, which is then removed by using a remover. Therefore, molding or molding is a process of manufacturing various objects with specific sizes and shapes. The person engaged in this manufacturing process is called a mold maker.
Types of molding include:
It can be molded in various ways as needed. The following are some of the molding applications used by manufacturers:
Blow molding: Blow molding is a manufacturing process through which hollow plastic parts are formed. The process starts by melting the plastic and forming it into a parison. The parison is a plastic with a hole at one end that is compressed so that air can pass through. It has three types: extrusion blow molding, injection blow molding and stretch blow molding.
Compaction plus sintering: Generally, this process is used to form ceramic objects and other products from powder. The entire process is based on atomic diffusion, in which a powdered material is heated to a temperature below the melting point.
Compression molding: This is a molding process in which the molding material is first preheated, then kept open, and then heated like a mold cavity. This process implies a thermostatic plastic compound.
Extrusion: Extrusion is a process by which a fixed cross-sectional profile can be created. Using this process helps to create very complex work materials and fragile cross sections. The extruded material can be polymer, metal, ceramic, food, concrete, etc.
Injection molding: This process is very suitable for developing parts using thermosetting plastics and thermoplastic materials. The processed materials can be aluminum and steel, which are used to manufacture automobile body panels.
Laminating: Combining two or two materials together is called a laminate, and the process used is called lamination. The processed material can be wood, plastic, etc.
Reaction injection molding is part of the laminate, in which thermosetting polymers are used. The parts made through this process are spoilers, car bumpers and fenders.
Matrix molding: Use this process to shape complex materials, such as glass, ceramics or glass composite materials. This process is also called matrix transfer molding.
Rotomolding (or rotomolding): This process is also called rotomolding, rotomolding or spin casting, which means that a variety of hollow plastic products are manufactured.
Transfer molding: This process is very similar to compression molding and is ideal for thermoset plastics.
Thermoforming: In this process, the plastic sheet is heated to a flexible developing temperature to form a mold, and then trimmed to obtain a suitable object shape. This process is used to manufacture containers, disposable cups, flip caps, lids, trays, blisters and other products used in the medical, food and general retail industries.
